Sam Allardyce has claimed that Chelsea could win the Premier League title this season if they had a striker like Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland. The former West Ham United and Everton manager has highlighted how fantastic the Blues are at creating chances.
Allardyce has insisted that Chelsea could do a lot better if they had a clinical finisher like Erling Haaland leading the line. He also claimed that the Blues are a bit vulnerable at the back. The former England manager said on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, as quoted by TBR Football:
“I mean Chelsea’s chances created to goals scored is really good, chances created, but goals scored could be better. If they had a pure finisher like Haaland they could win the league. I still think they’re slightly suspect defensively."
The Blues have emerged as surprise challengers for the Premier League title this season under Enzo Maresca. They are just two points behind league leaders Liverpool, having played a game more.
The west London side are the leading goalscorers in the Premier League this season having already scored 37 goals in 16 games. Their first-choice number nine Nicolas Jackson has scored nine goals in 15 league games. They have also missed the most big chances in the league this season with 37.
Erling Haaland, on the other hand, is having an underwhelming season by his usual standards as Manchester City have also struggled. The Norwegian has scored 13 goals in the league this season and leads the scoring charts jointly with Liverpool's Mohamed Salah.
Chelsea involved in a three-horse race with Arsenal and Manchester City for forward: Reports
Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City are reportedly involved in a three-horse race to sign Spartak Moscow forward Manfred Ugalde. The Costa Rica international has been red-hot for Spartak Moscow this season and has attracted interest from top clubs from across Europe.
As reported by TBR Football via The Hard Tackle, Chelsea and Arsenal are both keen on Ugalde, who has previously been heavily linked with Manchester City. The 22-year-old has a release clause of just €25 million in his deal which looks a bargain given how impressive he has been.
Ugalde has scored 15 goals and provided three assists in 18 league games this season for Spartak Moscow. The Manchester City target is technically gifted and boasts solid technique and can play either as a number nine or on the flanks.
