Ruben Amorim on Rasmus Højlund and Amad Diallo's disagreement following Manchester United's UEL win
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim shared his thoughts on Rasmus Højlund's and Amad Diallo's disagreement on the pitch after the Red Devils' 2-1 win against Viktoria Plzen in the UEFA Europa League.
After scoring a brace, Rasmus Højlund had a chance to net a hat-trick moments before the final whistle. However, Amad Diallo was unable to cross the ball for the Danish star to score. The Manchester United duo seemed to be involved in an argument on the pitch after the end of the match.
While asked about the disagreement between his players after the match, Ruben Amorim addressed it from a positive perspective and said (via SPORTbible):
"Yes, and for me it’s perfect, we need to feel something. In this moment, we need to feel something, if we need to fight each other it’s like a family, for me it’s a very, very good sign. We need to feel something and that is important. That is clear (that they care). When you don’t care, you don’t do nothing. When you care, you fight with your brother, with your father, with your mother."
"It’s a normal thing, it’s a positive thing, a healthy thing. So I let the players and the captain to calm down the things. If I think it’s too much I will go inside the dressing room. But it’s their space, they have to talk, to fight and for me it’s a very important thing. I am happy that we win the game and still fight each other, that is a very good thing. When you win and you fight with your teammate because you want to score one more, for me it’s a very good day for us," added the Portuguese manager.
Ruben Amorim's squad maintained 68% possession against Viktoria Plzen while having eight shots on target. They created an xG of 2.73, compared to Plzen's 0.77 from 15 shots.
