Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has sent a hilarious message to his teammate Federico Valverde after his fantastic strike in the 4-2 LaLiga win over Sevilla on Sunday (December 22).
Los Blancos moved into second in the standings with 40 points from 18 games after convincingly overcoming the Andalusians in their last game of the calendar year.
Ten minutes after Kylian Mbappe's opener for the reigning champions, Valverde doubled their advantage with a sweet long-range effort that left Sevilla goalkeeper Alvaro Fernandez with no chance.
It was the Uruguayan's fifth goal of the league campaign and it was the second straight game he has scored in. Although he doesn't score often, Valverde makes sure it's a banger whenever he does, just like the one on Sunday night.
His Madrid teammate Bellingham was in awe of his strike and took to X to make a hilarious remark. The Englishman jokingly asked Valverde to score "normal" goals too, tweeting:
"Score a normal goal man [head explosion emoji]"
The comment has racked up over 4,000 likes and elicited laughter from followers.
As a short corner from the left was played infield by Eduardo Camavinga, Valverde found himself free and unmarked. Setting himself up to shoot, he unleashed a 25-yard stunner that powered into the net.
Interestingly, all five of Valverde's league goals this season have come from outside the box, a testement to how lethal he can be from range if given time and space on the ball.
Last week, Valverde had struck another top-drawer goal, in the 3-3 draw against Rayo Vallecano from about 30 yards out, which took a bounce near the goal before ending up inside it.
Real Madrid end a memorable 2024 on a high
It was the perfect ending to a trophy-laden year for Real Madrid. A big win, some great goals and three more points in the bag. Their city rivals Atletico Madrid (40) remain a point ahead of them in the LaLiga standings.
Real Madrid pulled the curtains on 2024 with a statement win. This year, the Spanish giants reasserted their dominance in Europe with a record-extending Champions League trophy, while also reclaiming the LaLiga crown from Barcelona.
Additionally, Carlo Ancelotti's side got their hands on the Supercopa de Espana back in January, the UEFA Super Cup in August, and most recently, the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, winning five titles for the year.
