Fans were left disappointed with Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker's performance in the club's 2-1 win over Watford in the EFL Cup Third Round fixture on Tuesday (September 24). The defender featured as a starter in the game, making four clearances and losing one duel during the 90 minutes.
Things began well for the home team, as Jeremy Doku found the back of the net with a low drive in the fifth minute via a Jack Grealish assist. Matheus Nunes doubled the Cityzens' lead as he scored from outside the penalty box in the 38th minute, assisted by Rico Lewis. However, Watford denied Manchester City a clean sheet as Thomas Ince scored in the 86th minute.

In the post-match press conference, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola appreciated Matheus Nunes' display in their 2-1 win over Watford in the EFL Cup. Nunes scored the home team's second goal of the night in his first start of the season.
Guardiola said (via CityXtra):
"He has special qualities few players have, unique. With space in transition he's unbelievable. I'm pleased for him and the goal. Still he has things to read and it's not easy to adapt. I'm really pleased for him, he's a lovely guy and lovely guys always deserves good things."
Nunes' goal was his first for Manchester City since joining the club last summer from Wolverhampton Wanderers. He was also named the Man of the Match for the game.
