Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah has provided an update about his future amid links with Barcelona. The Germany international has confirmed that his next destination remains undecided, which may be a severe blow to Blaugrana fans.

Tah has been rumored to move to the Catalan outfit in the summer when his contract with his German employers runs out. It may be significantly more important to sign the defender with reports linking Ronald Araujo with a move away from Camp Nou.

However, the 28-year-old centre-back has not confirmed these links to Barcelona and told SkySports DE in a recent interview (via Football Espana):

“So far nothing has been decided. I am completely focused on being successful with Leverkusen. I will make my decision soon and when I have made it, I will communicate it."

While the Blaugrana are considered front-runners for Tah's signature, they are reportedly set to face competition from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Joining Barcelona would provide the central defender with the opportunity to compete for top honors in the coming years.

He arrived in Leverkusen in 2015 from Hamburger SV for a reported fee of €9.5 million. Since then, Tah has made 378 appearances across competitions for his current employers, bagging 16 goals and 13 assists. He's won the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal once each, along with one other trophy.

Barcelona's need for a central defender may become more imminent if Ronald Araujo walks away from the club in the current transfer window. According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Uruguay international has given the green light to join Juventus in Serie A (via Football Italia).

The report adds that the Italian giants are interested in a loan move for Araujo due to the deficiencies in the centre-back department. Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal are both set to miss the rest of the campaign due to injuries, and the 25-year-old could be the man to fill in.

Of course, a permanent move for the player may also be on the cards, with Araujo's contract at Barcelona coming to an end in the summer of 2026. To date, he's played 151 matches across competitions for the Catalans, bagging eight goals and six assists.

Since joining the Spanish side in 2018, Araujo has managed to win the La Liga title and the Copa del Rey once each.
