Former Manchester United player Roy Keane has suggested Marcus Rashford could benefit from a potential exit from Old Trafford. It comes in the wake of the player being dropped from the Red Devils' squad ahead of their crunch Premier League clash against arch-rivals Manchester City.
Rashford's omission from the squad by head coach Ruben Amorim came as a huge surprise to many, considering that the English international has been an integral part of the team.
Meanwhile, Keane reacted to the news ahead of the game against City.
In his words, as quoted by UtdPlug, Keane said:
“A move for Marcus [Rashford] would suit the player – a new challenge for him. He’s been there a long time. When you’re at a big club and your attitude is not right – and it hasn’t been great recently – sometimes it’s good to part ways."
Ruben Amorim reacts to decision to drop Manchester United duo ahead of crunch PL derby
The Portuguese tactician omitted the duo of Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho from the squad facing Manchester City this evening at the Etihad.
Both players did take part in Manchester United's last Premier League outing against Nottingham Forest, where they lost 3-2 at Old Trafford. Garnacho started the game against Forest, while Rashford came off the bench in the encounter.
Amorim said he made his evaluation of the two players and decided that it was best for them not to take part. Speaking before the game, Amorim said:
"I pay attention to everything, the way you eat, the way you put your clothes to go to a game. Everything. I make my evaluation and then I decide. There is a communication after the last training. They are alright. They had training this morning and I was there. They trained really well."
It will be interesting to see how Manchester United will fare against City without the two forwards. Both players have registered a combined total of seven goals and two assists for United in the Premier League this season.
