Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer has jokingly apologized to Christopher Nkunku after scoring an attempt by the Frenchman that was going into the net. This happened during the Blues' 5-1 win over Southampton in the Premier League on Wednesday (December 4).
Nkunku skipped past several defenders and placed his strike that should have gone into the net. However, Palmer took no chance, tapping the ball into the back of the net. He later took to social media to say his fantasy Premier League managers needed him to score.
Here's Palmer's caption and post:
"Top win. Top support. 💙 Sorry @c_nkunku but my FPL managers needed me 🤣."
Palmer has scored nine goals and provided six assists in 14 Premier League games this season. He's also Chelsea's top-scorer in the league in the ongoing campaign.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are ranked second in the Premier League standings, having registered 28 points from 14 games. The Blues are seven points behind league leaders Liverpool in the title race.
If Enzo Maresca's side remain consistent, they could still fight for the Premier League title. The Blues will face Tottenham Hotspur in their next league game on Sunday (December 8).
Chelsea interested in signing Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Borussia Dortmund - Reports
Chelsea are interested in signing Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, as per BILD (via CaughtOffside). The report also said the Blues are willing to pay a significant amount in a bid to secure Bynoe-Gittens' signature.
Bynoe-Gittens has been one of the best-performing youngsters in Europe this season. In 19 appearances, he has scored eight goals and registered four assists.
The Englishman's brilliant start to the campaign hasn't gone under the radar, as several Premier League teams are looking to sign him. The Blues' interest in Bynoe-Gittens could be seen as a move to bolster their attack.
If signed, his intuition could enhance Enzo Maresca's attack. However, Bynoe-Gittens is valued at €100 million, according to the aforementioned report. This is an indication that the Blues might have to offload some of their current wingers to facilitate the potential transfer.
The 20-year-old is contracted at Dortmund till June 2028, meaning he will unlikely be a cheap option in the transfer market.
