On Tuesday, incoming Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim bested Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in a game that will please the red half of Manchester. It was the reigning English champions' third consecutive loss.

Phil Foden opened the scoring in the fourth minute before Viktor Gyokeres equalized for the hosts in the 38th minute with a smart finish. The hosts took the lead just after halftime after Pedro Goncalves set up Maximiliano Araujo in the 46th minute.

Gyokeres made it 3-1 after Josko Gvardiol brought down Francisco Trincao in the 49th minute. The Swedish striker completed his hattrick in the 80th minute after Matheus Nunes brought down Catamo in the box to make it 4-1.

Manchester City player ratings:

Ederson Moraes - 5/10

The Brazilian played poorly and picked the ball from the back of his net four times. He managed only two saves against Ruben Amorim's side.

Rico Lewis - 7/10

Rico Lewis had a respectable game for his side in the UEFA Champions League today. He won two tackles and made five recoveries.

Manuel Akanji - 6/10

The Swiss defender was assured at the heart of the Manchester City defense. However, he received a poor rating for conceding four goals.

Jahmai Simpson-Pusey - 6/10

The young defender was part of the poor defense that Pep Guardiola set out to face Ruben Amorim today. He made six recoveries and won all but one duel. However, he conceded four goals and got a poor rating as a result.

Josko Gvardiol - 5/10

The Croatian was part of the poor Manchester City defense that lined up in Lisbon. He conceded a penalty and lost seven duels.

Mateo Kovacic - 6/10

The Croatian was poor in the game for Pep Guardiola's side. While he completed the most passes in the game (83), he committed two fouls and failed to win a tackle.

Phil Foden - 8/10

The Englishman opened the scoring with his fourth-minute strike. He completed 98% of his passes and created three chances.

Bernardo Silva - 6/10

Bernardo Silva was far from impressive for Manchester City on his return to his native Portugal. He completed 88% of his passes and committed two fouls.

Savinho - 7/10

The Brazilian was one of the only players on Pep Guardiola's team to give a good account of himself. He completed the most dribbles (5) and won the most duels (10).

Matheus Nunes - 5/10

The Portuguese midfielder was poor for Manchester City today. He conceded a penalty that was converted by Viktor Gyokeres and was dispossessed twice by Ruben Amorim's side.

Erling Haaland - 5/10

The Norwegian simply could not cut the mustard against Ruben Amorim's defense. He missed a spot-kick and struck the woodwork from his paltry 15 touches in the game, the lowest among any players to play 90 minutes.

Manchester City substitutes

Ilkay Gundogan - 5/10

The German came on for 13 minutes but had no impact on Pep Guardiola's team in the clash. He completed 10 passes from 12 touches.

Jeremy Doku - 6/10

The Belgian came on for 13 minutes but could not do any damage to Ruben Amorim's side. He completed two dribbles and 12 passes from 21 touches.

Kevin de Bruyne - NA

The Belgian came on late but did not have enough time to change the fate of Pep Guardiola's team.
