Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard recently heaped praise on Arsenal star Kai Havertz's ability and selflessness on the pitch. He said that the German appears to have finally found his ideal position for club and country.

Havertz joined the Gunners from London rivals Chelsea last summer for £65 million. He started in midfield for them and struggled at the start but found his form after being asked to play as the centre-forward. He contributed 14 goals and seven assists in 51 games across competitions for Arsenal last season.

His performances saw him become a starter for Germany at the ongoing UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany. He scored a goal and provided an assist in their opening game against Scotland, which they won 5-1. He failed to make a goal contribution in their 2-0 win over Hungary but he still impressed Frank Lampard.

The former Chelsea midfielder said on BBC One:

“He is such an interesting player Kai. He was searching for his best role all that point and growing into the nine, false nine. But he has this ability, he has fluid movement Kai, he likes to stretch the game.
"He is so important as he’s prepared to make that run. Some of that is selfless, sometimes you won’t see him get it but he consistently makes that run. Technically he’s very good.”

Havertz has already helped Germany qualify for the Round of 16 of Euro 2024. They will face Switzerland in their final group game on Sunday, June 23.

Journalist slams Arsenal star for his performance at Euro 2024

Belgian journalist Alexandre Braeckman reckons Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard won't start another game at Euro 2024 for Belgium. This comes following his disappointing performance in their surprise 1-0 defeat against Slovakia.

Trossard played 74 minutes and completed 14/21 passes, playing one key pass, had three shots, won 4/8 duels, and lost possession 13 times. After the game, RTL journalist Braeckman said (via HITC):

“I don’t understand what he was still doing on the pitch in the second half. I found him catastrophic. In his game, he missed everything. He missed a lot of things.
“We should have scored a goal where he tried a long-range shot while Lukaku was alone on the other side. I think he has lost any chance of starting another match at the Euros.”

Trossard scored 17 goals and provided two assists in 46 games across competitions for Arsenal last season.
