Chelsea fans heaped praise on Jadon Sancho and Enzo Fernandez for their performance in the Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, December 8. The duo were outstanding as the Blues came from behind to win 4-3 and move to the second position on the Premier League table.

Enzo Maresca’s men entered the contest as favorites, but Spurs opened the scoring after Marc Cucurella slipped as the visitors tried to play out from the back. Brennan Johnson pounced on the loose ball and raced forward to provide a cross that Dominic Solanke met ahead of Levi Colwill and turned into the net (5’).

Cucurella slipped again in the 11th minute and Chelsea were made to pay once more, with Dejan Kulusevski guiding a strike inside Robert Sánchez’s post. Jadon Sancho reduced the deficit in the 17th minute as he cut in from the left to fire a brilliant effort past Fraser Forster.

The Blues came out strongly in the second half, and their efforts paid dividends in the 61st minute. Yves Bissouma made a clumsy sliding tackle on Moises Caicedo and conceded a penalty, which Cole Palmer converted to equalize.

Chelsea took the lead for the first time in the game after Palmer's deflected shot was fired home by Enzo Fernandez (73’). Cole Palmer added to Spurs' woes in the 84th minute, converting again from the penalty spot. Son Heung-min scored a consolation goal in second-half stoppage time as Chelsea secured a 4-3 victory.

While Cole Palmer was named the man of the match, Enzo Fernadez and Jadon Sancho also had brilliant outings. Sancho attempted four take-ons and completed three. He took 66 touches, including 12 in the opposition box. Fernandez, on the other hand, took 75 touches and completed 96% of his passes (48/50).

Enzo Maresca says Chelsea star is one of the best players in the Premier League

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has claimed that Cole Palmer is one of the best players in the Premier League. After a breakout 2023-24 campaign, in which he scored 25 goals in 45 appearances across competitions, Palmer has continued to prove that he is a force to be reckoned with. The Englishman scored a brace for the Blues in their 4-3 victory against Spurs and deservedly won the MOTM award.

In the post-match press conference, Maresca was asked if Palmer is one of the best players in the league, to which he responded (via Football London);

''For us, for sure, but the Premier League is full of top players and top talent. Cole belongs with those players. I had Cole for one year four years ago so I know him from then. When he was with me in U23s, he was in one way and now, he is exactly the same guy. Lovely, humble, no strange things and this is the best thing for young players."

Palmer has scored 11 goals and provided six assists for the Blues in 17 appearances across competitions this term.
