Football fans were left surprised after former Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino was spotted wearing a Burnley shirt in an Instagram post. The Brazilian forward is currently with Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, having left the Premier League last summer.

A key player for a long time for Jurgen Klopp's Reds, Firmino enjoyed a very successful stint in England, winning hearts and trophies in Liverpool colors. Firmino still appears to be a fan of the Premier League, as evidenced by his Instagram story.

The 32-year-old was working out in his gym in a Burnley away shirt from the 2023-24 season. Fans were puzzled at the randomness of the post, and they took to X to talk about it.

A fan postulated that the Brazilian ace is a proper Burnley fan.

"Just looked it up to see who's shirt he swapped but realised he was already in Saudi. He's just a Burnley fan through and through, fair play."

Another fan questioned why the forward wore the jersey.

"😂 Why is Roberto Firmino wearing a Burnley shirt?"

A fan cheekily said that the forward is joining Burnley.

"Firmino to Burnley confirmed then."

Roberto Firmino played alongside the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Edouard Mendy at Al-Ahli, helping them finish third in the league last season, 31 points behind league winners Al-Hilal. The Brazilian forward contributed nine goals and six assists for his side in the league.

Liverpool turn down opportunity to sign former Everton forward - Reports

Liverpool have turned down the opportunity to complete the transfer of England international Anthony Gordon ahead of the 2024-25 Premier League season, as per the BBC. The Reds opted out of the deal as they did not want to part ways with one of their finest youngsters, Jarell Quansah.

Arne Slot's side have not hidden their admiration of 23-year-old Newcastle United star Gordon, and the Magpies' PSR situation put them in a position where they were willing to sell. However, they demanded that Liverpool include defender Jarell Quansah in the deal, something the Reds were having none of.

Anthony Gordon scored 11 times for Newcastle in what was his first full season at St. James's Park, helping his side to finish seventh in the league. The young forward was his club's Player of the Season for 2023-24 and is with the England squad at Euro 2024.
