"That is the kind of player that will make Saka, Gabriel or Saliba take notice" – Ian Wright names foreign signing Arsenal need to keep star trio at club

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has urged his former club to launch a move to sign Jamal Musiala to help retain Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and Gabriel Magalhaes in the future.

The Gunners, who finished second in both of the 2022-23 and the 2023-24 campaigns, are in danger of not winning a trophy again this season. They are six points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, who have an extra game in hand. Furthermore, they have been eliminated from the FA Cup and are 2-0 down in their EFL Cup semi-final tie against Newcastle United.

Speaking on his Wrighty's House podcast, Wright suggested he is greatly worried about Saka, Saliba, and Gabriel potentially leaving Arsenal due to a lack of silverware. He said (h/t Metro):

"Those guys are going to be into the last year [after the World Cup]. We're going to have a situation like Liverpool have got now. How long before their management teams say, 'We need to see the ambition of this club?' Do any of those players want to end up not winning anything because the way it's going at the moment..."

Wright, who represented the Gunners between 1991 and 1998, continued:

"They have to spend now! They need to do some unbelievable business in the summer. As good as I think [Mikel] Merino and [Riccardo] Calafiori have been, I'm not sure they're the calibre of player that's going to make Saliba, Gabriel or Saka stay. They need to bring a player or players in that makes them say, 'F**k, these guys are serious'."

Urging Arsenal to lure Musiala away from Bayern Munich, Wright added:

"Someone like Musiala. That is the kind of player that will make Saka, Gabriel or Saliba take notice. And the reason why Musiala would think about it is because of who's there now."

Serie A outfit reject Arsenal approach for star

According to Football Transfers, Juventus have rejected Arsenal's loan bid for Dusan Vlahovic in the recent past. They are interested in selling the striker and are willing to wait until the end of the month to come to a decision.

The Gunners, meanwhile, are still hoping to sign the Juventus striker this month. But, their top striking target is RB Leipzig frontman Benjamin Sesko.

Vlahovic, who was heavily linked with Arsenal before his transfer to Juventus in January 2022, has a contract until June 2026 at his club. He has scored 53 goals in 124 overall appearances for Thiago Motta's side so far.
