Manchester United fan and retired sprinter Usain Bolt has suggested that new Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim will introduce a fresh identity at his new club.
Last week, Amorim officially took over the reins at the Old Trafford outfit after Ruud van Nistelrooy stepped down from his interim role. The Portuguese is regarded as one of the best young coaches in Europe as he helped Sporting CP lift two league titles between 2020 and 2024.
During a recent chat with Sky Sports, Bolt was queried to offer his two cents on the 39-year-old coach's recent arrival at Manchester United. The Jamaican responded (h/t Manchester Evening News):
"I'm really excited. The fact that he beat Pep [Guardiola] twice is wonderful. I heard his first interview and it seems like he is going to bring identity to the club. That's what I think we were missing at the club, identity. So, I'm excited to see if the players can work with him and stand behind him and do a really good job."
Amorim, who has a contract until 2027 at the Red Devils, recently helped Sporting register a 4-1 UEFA Champions League win over Manchester City. He was winless in his last two meetings against the Cityzens.
During his four-year stint at Sporting, Amorim lifted five overall trophies. He guided his former club to 165 wins and 33 defeats in 231 matches across all competitions, coaching them to net a whopping 515 goals.
The ex-Benfica midfielder is expected to utilize a 3-4-3 setup at Manchester United due to his affinity for a three-man defence. His first game in charge will be United's league trip at Ipswich Town on November 24.
Premier League striker shuts down rumours of Manchester United return in recent interaction
During an interview with The Times, Brighton & Hove Albion striker Danny Welbeck was queried about being linked with a return to Manchester United. He responded (h/t Metro):
"It's speculation and there's always that link for me because I've been at the club. As I said, I'm just focusing on what I can control myself and all the other stuff is pretty irrelevant."
Welbeck, who rose through the youth ranks of Manchester United, has been in fine form for Brighton this campaign. The 33-year-old has found the back of the net six times in 11 Premier League starts for his club.
During his time at the Red Devils from 2008 to 2014, Welbeck registered 29 goals and 17 assists in 142 appearances across all competitions.
