Arsenal great Ian Wright has claimed that only injuries to crucial players could stop Liverpool from lifting the Premier League title at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
The Reds, who parted ways with legendary manager Jurgen Klopp earlier this summer, have proved to be one of the teams to beat this term. They are atop the Premier League standings with a whopping 34 points from 13 matches.
Speaking on The Kelly & Wrighty Show, Wright shared his honest thoughts on how the Anfield outfit could slip up in the ongoing Premier League title race. He said (h/t TBR):
"It will only be injuries to key players now. Not even the goalie, they don't even have their main goalkeeper, but with the way [Caoimhin] Kelleher is playing, you wouldn't believe Alisson can make better saves."
Wright, who helped Arsenal win one Premier League title, added:
"You have to think to yourself, that's the only thing. Even if they do have a mishap like [losing 1-0 to Nottingham] Forest, since then it's been nothing, faultless. I believe they've kicked into a position now where you need to chase them, they need to lose three or four. I can't see it."
Liverpool have been without Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa, and Harvey Elliott for much of this season. They are also missing defensive troika Ibrahima Konate, Conor Bradley, and Konstantinos Tsimikas due to respective injuries.
Arsenal star heaps praise on Liverpool's form
Speaking to Sky Sports, Arsenal attacker Kai Havertz opined on the Premier League title race and lauded the Reds for their fine displays this season. He said (h/t Mirror):
"I think we are still in the first part of the season so a lot of things can happen. For me, I just feel how much tougher the Premier League gets year by year and then you see now Liverpool, all of a sudden, performing on the highest level week in, week out. You have to give credit to [them]. But there are still lots of games to play, lots of points to give, so we're going to be ready for the fight."
While Liverpool boast a 11-point lead over defending champions Manchester City, Arsenal are second in the Premier League standings with 25 points.
Arsenal will next take on ninth-place Manchester United in a Premier League home game this Wednesday (December 4). Liverpool, on the other hand, will face 11th-place Newcastle United in an away league encounter on the same day.
