Real Madrid midfielder Aurelin Tchouameni has hit out at Mallorca and Argentina right-back Pablo Maffeo. The latter was involved in a bust-up with Vinicius Junior during the two sides' recent Supercopa de Espana semifinal in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
This wasn't the first time that the duo of Vinicius and Maffeo had a feud, as the latter was once sent off for a heavy challenge on the Brazilian during the 2021-22 season.
Speaking of Maffeo's antics after the game, Tchouameni said (via Tribal Football):
"I know that there is always a Mallorca player who creates problems in every match; people get angry but the most important thing is to win the match. I don't want to talk about this guy because that's what he wants."
While the 27-year-old defender has been picked in the Argentina squad alongside Lionel Messi, he is yet to make an international appearance for La Albiceleste.
Real Madrid went on to win the Supercopa de Espana game 3-0 and will now face Barcelona in the final on Sunday, January 12.
Former Liverpool and Real Madrid star comes down hard on Pablo Maffeo
Former Liverpool and Real Madrid attacker, Steve McManaman also hit out at Pablo Maffeo after the game. He highlighted the right-back's dramatic fall after Vinicius had waved him off, terming it 'embarrassing'.
He told ESPN (as quoted by Madrid Xtra on X):
“This is disgusting from Maffeo. It’s ridiculous. It’s embarrassing. What is he doing? In the last LaLiga game, Vinicius touched the GK around the neck and he fell over like he’s been hit by Mike Tyson, this is the same. That’s pathetic.”
Following the Spanish Super Cup final on Sunday, Real Madrid will face Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey Round of 16 on Thursday, January 16, before welcoming Las Palmas to the Santiago Bernabeu in LaLiga on Sunday, January 19.
