Some fans online have reacted to Chelsea's Cole Palmer starting in England's UEFA Nations League clash against Greece. The two sides will face off at Wembley on Thursday, October 10.

The Three Lions reached the finals of the recent Euros in Germany but despite their strong performance, many questions were raised about Gareth Southgate’s approach. Following their heartbreaking defeat to Spain, Southgate stepped down, and England youth manager Carsley took over.

He kicked off the Nations League campaign against Ireland, where the Three Lions appeared confident and secured a comfortable 2-0 victory. The second match against Finland was more challenging, but Harry Kane’s second-half brace ensured a perfect start.

Greece will be their third opponent, and Carsley has once again opted for a strong lineup. With Kane absent for this match, John Stones takes on the captaincy. Carsley has started all of Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka, and Cole Palmer. He has already scored six goals and provided five assists in seven Premier League games this season.

Interestingly, Carsley previously praised Palmer’s versatility, suggesting he could even play at left-back. However, he has certainly placed him in his preferred attacking midfield role against Greece.

Both England and Chelsea fans were certainly ecstatic with the decision to include one of the Premier League’s in-form players. They flooded social media with their reactions. Here are a few comments on X:

“Yooooo Palmer the face of England football,” a fan posted.
“Palmer let’s cook!” a supporter commented.
“Palmer ball?? There wai,” another fan added.

Greece are the other team in the group to have won both of their opening games, with a 3-0 victory over Finland and a 2-0 win against Ireland. This is expected to be a tough match for England, but they remain the favorites to secure all three points and move to the top of the table.

England boss Lee Carsley confident Cole Palmer can continue to improve

There has been much debate surrounding Cole Palmer and whether Gareth Southgate should have utilized him more. It further grew after his equalizer in the Euros final against Spain before they lost 2-1.

While Carsley remained tight-lipped about whether the Chelsea star should've been used more during the tournament, he expressed his high regard for Palmer.

“Cole is in a brilliant position. He has really found his feet at Chelsea, he is highly-rated, he’s getting minutes, he’s showing that he can handle the intensity of playing game after game. Ultimately, he’s still a young player, he’s still got a lot of improving to do. Even though he’s at an incredible limit at the moment, I still think he can get better,” he said (via The Sun)

For now, the new Three Lions coach has placed full trust in Cole Palmer, who is set to make only his 10th appearance in an England shirt against Greece.
