Former Egypt defender Haytham Farouk has congratulated Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah for signing a new contract with the Reds. While nothing has been made official by Anfield, Farouk claimed that Salah's contract has been renewed.

The Liverpool legend's uncertain future has been a major topic of contention in recent weeks. The club have not been keen on handing massive wages and contracts to players over the age of 30, but Salah, now 32, has remained a highly instrumental player.

This season, he has already scored 13 goals and provided eight assists in just 14 Premier League games. However, much of the focus on Mohamed Salah has been on the looming end of his current contract, which will expire in about six months.

However, according to Haytham Farouk, the 32-year-old has agreed on a new deal. The pundit said on social media (via Daily Mail):

"Congratulations on renewing your contract with the number you like and the period you want. The Egyptian king rules with his own judgments."

Mohamed Salah has openly spoken about his contract situation at Liverpool in recent weeks. After a 3-2 win over Southampton on November 24, he told the press he had not received any offers from the club. After their 2-0 win over Manchester City on December 1, he claimed it could be his last game against City on Merseyside.

However, the Anfield faithful will be pleased about Haytham Farouk's comments, as it signals a continuation for Salah.

Liverpool legend pushes for club to renew Salah's contract

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has pushed for the Anfield hierarchy to renew Mohamed Salah's contract. This comes after the Egyptian legend was on top of his game in the Reds' 3-3 draw against Newcastle United at St. James' Park on December 4.

Fowler has made it clear that the 32-year-old is indispensable to the club, speaking about the situation on Amazon Prime (via BBC):

"Salah's stats and data are incredible. We talked about him getting that new contract and his agent should be there first thing in the morning to get him to sign that contract. He is that player who can change a game. He has moments and he is exceptional in those moments. He is a match winner."

Indeed, Salah contributed to all three goals in their 3-3 draw against the Magpies. He assisted their first goal, providing a perfect layoff for Curtis Jones. He then scored the two goals, helping the Reds consolidate their position atop the Premier League table.
