Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin has provided an honest assessment about the team's form, following their Champions League defeat to AC Milan. Yesterday (November 5), the two sides clashed, with Los Blancos losing 3-1 in front of their fans at the Santiago Bernabeu.

It was an abysmal performance from the hosts, whose only goal came from a penalty scored by Vinicius Junior. Their last league match against Barcelona on October 26, also at the Bernabeu, ended with Los Blancos enduring a shock 4-0 loss.

Andriy Lunin was the goalkeeper for both games, with number one shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois dealing with injury concerns. The Ukraine international has conceded seven goals and Real Madrid have not scored from open play in those two games. Speaking after the loss to Milan, Lunin said to the press (via Tribal Football):

"I can't even say good night. I think the last two defeats are inexplicable. We have to do a good analysis and react well. We have to come back. I don't see the team nervous. Unfortunately, in football there are difficult moments. We understand perfectly that we are Madrid, that we always have to win, that there are no excuses.
"We have to react, we have to finish off chances, we have to reduce the ones we concede. But I don't see anyone nervous or having problems. We will analyse it, no matter what, but we will overcome this moment."

When asked about the boos and jeers from the fans at the Santiago Bernabeu, the goalkeeper responded:

"Yes. The Bernabeu has always been demanding, but that also helps us in difficult moments when they encourage us, push us. Today it wasn't to be, I can understand them. They are always with us and I can only thank them. We have to improve our play and our results."

Real Madrid will face Osasuna at the Bernabeu on November 9 for their next league clash. They will hope they can resolve the issues surrounding their sub-par performances, if they are to give the fans something to smile about in the next game.

Real Madrid go down 1-3 to AC Milan

Real Madrid were unable to provide a clinical edge against their opponents at the Bernabeu yesterday (November 5). They had 23 shots, with 10 on target, racking up an xG of 2.66. However, they managed to score just the one goal from Vinicius' spot-kick in the 23rd minute.

AC Milan had just 14 shots at goal with nine on target, racking up an xG of 2.45, but they took their chances well, scoring three. Malick Thiaw scored the first goal of the game in the 12th minute, and after Vinicius' equalizer, Alvaro Morata made it two for Milan in the 39th minute. Tijjani Reijnders scored their third goal in the 73rd minute.

Real Madrid were better in possession (57%) and they also had more passes (476 with 93% accuracy). AC Milan had 354 passes, with 88% accuracy.
