Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has shared a message for the Gunners fans on Instagram following his surgery. The England international is going to be a huge miss for Mikel Arteta after suffering a hamstring injury in the 5-1 win over Crystal Palace on December 20.
After starting that tie, Saka was forced off in the 24th minute and had to be replaced by Leandro Trossard. The attacker underwent surgery and has now shared an image of himself from the hospital bed.
He wrote in the caption of his Instagram post:
"The majority see obstacles, but few see the opportunities. Recovery has begun and I’m coming back stronger ! Thank you all for your messages."
Saka has been sensational for Arsenal this season, having notched up nine goals and 13 assists in 24 appearances across competitions. His absence may have Arteta worried, with no alternative left-footed winger to turn to. Raheem Sterling is also out injured.
In the 1-0 win against Ipswich Town on Friday (December 28), it was Gabriel Martinelli who featured on the right side. The likes of Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus can also play down this flank and may be needed to step up until the 23-year-old returns to action.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta expects Bukayo Saka to miss more than two months of action
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes Bukayo Saka could spend more than two months on the sidelines after his hamstring injury. The youngster has barely missed matches for the Gunners in the past couple of seasons.
His longest spell out of action during his time with the first team came earlier this campaign when he missed nine matches for club and country across competitions. When asked about Saka's return, Arteta said (via Sky Sports):
"It will be more than two months. I don't know exactly how much longer. It will depend on how the scar tissue starts to heal, the first week or so, and the mobility of that. It is very difficult to say."
"The replacement of Bukayo is going to be the team. There were moments where it flowed well tonight and moments where you could see there is still work to do."
Arsenal have a busy period coming up and will have to look for solutions to this issue on the right flank. They are up against Brentford on New Year's Day and will travel to Brighton & Hove Albion on January 4 for their next two Premier League matches.
