Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has commented on the future of Marcus Rashford amid speculation linking the attacker with a potential departure from Old Trafford. The tactician insists the player can only make a decision on his future when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
There were rumors in circulation suggesting Marcus Rashford was unhappy at Manchester United following their loss to Manchester City last weekend. Ralf Rangnick has denied the stories, stating that he pays less attention to what's being said in the media.
"I spoke with him [Rashford] yesterday and the day before yesterday so I don't know anything about that," the tactician was quoted as saying as per Sky Sports. "In my 25 years of professional football, I have been deciding not to take too much notice of things happening in the media."
He added:
"He didn't say anything to me. He said to me that he's still happy and that he wants to perform on a high level here for the club. He didn't mention a thing about not being happy here."
Ralf Rangnick, however, refused to close the door on the possible departure of Marcus Rashford. Instead, the German has urged the attacker to focus on the current campaign and shift his future plans to the summer when the transfer window reopens.
"But again, I mean, the window is closed right now. Even in case suppose he and his agents or his family at one stage of the summer think about maybe going to another club, well then he can do that but in the summer. Now the window is closed and it's got nothing to do with tomorrow's game or the game on Tuesday."
How has Marcus Marcus Rashford fared under Ralf Rangnick?
The Englishman has played 14 games for Manchester United across competitions since Rangnick took charge of the club in December last year. He's recorded two goals and one assist to his name from those games, all coming in the Premier League.
It is quite obvious that Rashford isn't in his best form right now. Perhaps he could be tempted to part ways with the club in the summer and search for greener pastures elsewhere.
