Manchester United star Altay Bayindir's agent Sefa Seyrek recently opened up about his client's future. He said that while there has been interest in the goalkeeper, he wants to stay at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils signed Bayindir from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023. He has made just four appearances for the club with three of them coming this season. His latest appearance was against Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the EFL Cup quarter-final on December 19.
Bayindir made a couple of errors in that game, including conceding a goal directly from a corner, as Manchester United lost 4-3 and were eliminated. Post that, there has been speculation about the Turkish goalkeeper's future at the club. However, his agent recently told Sports Digitale (via Mirror):
"Altay had offers from many European clubs last summer. There are currently clubs that are interested, but Altay wants to stay and play in Manchester. The club definitely does not want to lose Altay."
Bayindir's contract with the Red Devils is set to expire in 2027. He has only featured in the EFL Cup for Manchester United this season. He is next expected to feature only in the FA Cup unless there's any injury or suspension to Andre Onana.
What Ruben Amorim said after Altay Bayindir's errors in Manchester United's defeat against Tottenham
The Red Devils had a poor start in the EFL Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur as they found themselves 1-0 down in the 15th minute. Altay Bayindir parried a Pedro Porro shot and Dominic Solanke finished the rebound well. Dejan Kulusevski (46') and Solanke (54') made it 3-0.
Two huge errors from Fraser Forster allowed Joshua Zirkzee (63') and Amad Diallo (70') to make it 3-2. However, Son Heung-min scored directly from a corner over Bayindir to seal the win for Spurs. Jonny Evans later got another goal for Manchester United in stoppage time.
After the game, Ruben Amorim was asked if Bayindir had apologized for his performance. The Portuguese head coach said (via Mirror):
"No, he doesn't have to do that. He has to focus. We will see the game, and we will improve every player of this team. We win together, lose together. It is not the individual; it is the team."
That defeat against Tottenham started a run of four straight defeats for Manchester United. They will next face rivals Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.
