Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmöller has dismissed transfer rumors linking his star forward Omar Marmoush to Manchester City. According to Tribal Football, the Premier League champions have reached personal terms with the Egyptian ace and talks are now in advanced stages over a fee.
The 25-year-old, whose contract with the Eagles runs until 2027, has struck 18 goals and chipped in with a further 12 assists from 28 games in all competitions for the Bundesliga side. Frankfurt is expected to set his valuation around €60 million.
Toppmoller, however, refused to weigh in on the rumors. In fact, he outright denied any talks between the two clubs when pressed on the issue, while insisting that Marmoush will be playing their league clash with St. Pauli on Saturday. He said (via Tribal Football):
"Omar is a very important player for us. There is no contact between the clubs and, until there is, there is no need to talk about it too much. He made a good impression in training and will start on Saturday."
Marmoush joined Frankfurt from Wolfsburg on a free transfer in 2023 and hasn't looked back since. He netted 17 times in his first season and has already surpassed that figure in the ongoing campaign, standing at 18 from 24 games for the season thus far.
His blistering exploits have played a key role in the side's third position in the Bundesliga table right now, as well as their solid run in the Europa League.
Frankfurt star Marmoush among frontrunners for Bundesliga Golden Boot
Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush has scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga this season, which is more than any player right now besides Harry Kane. The Bundesliga ace currently leads the scoring charts with just one more than his Egyptian rival.
That's a testament to Marmoush's blistering exploits so far in the top-flight campaign. He is enjoying his best spell in front of goal, and giving Kane a tough run in the race for Torjägerkanone.
Should he pick up the top-scorer award at the end of the season, Marmoush will be just the fourth player in the club's history to win it, and the first since Alexander Meier in the 2014-15 season (19).
