Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah looks on

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah provided a candid response on his uncertain future at the club. The 32-year-old has entered the final six months of his current deal, with little progress on his extension.

Salah has been a standout performer for the Anfield side since arriving from AS Roma in the summer of 2017. In 375 games across competitions, he has bagged an impressive 231 goals and 105 assists, That places him fourth in the club's all-time scoring list, trailing Ian Rush (346), Roger Hunt (285) and Gordon Hodgson (241), whom Salah could overtake before the end of the season.

The diminutive Egyptian has led his side's charge on multiple fronts from the front, bagging 20 goals and 17 assists in 26 games across competitions. That includes 17 goals and 13 assists in 18 outings in the Premier League, where the Reds are six points clear at the top, having played a game more. In the UEFA Champions League, Salah has two goals and four assists in six games for Arne Slot's table-toppers.

However, Salah's Anfield future remains shrouded in mystery, as there's little progress between both parties regarding an extension. In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports Premier League, he said on being asked if it's his last year at the club:

"So far? Yes ... into the last 6 months, there is no progress there. We're far away from any progress in contract talks, so we just need to wait and see."

While he hasn't entirely closed the door on remaining at Anfield beyond the summer, Salah is now free to strike up a pre-contract agreement with any foreign club ahead of a potential free transfer.

How did Mohamed Salah fare in his latest outing for Liverpool?

While his immediate Liverpool future may be far from clear, Mohamed Salah continues to blaze a trail on the pitch as the Reds chase a second Premier League title in six years.

In his latest outing for the Premier League and UEFA Champions League leaders, the 32-year-old scored twice and assisted once in a 5-0 league walloping at West Ham United at the weekend.

Salah and Co. next take on struggling Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday (January 5) as they seek to remain clear of the chasing pack. The Reds have lost just once in 27 games across competitions this season, with that defeat (1-0 at home to Nottingham Forest) coming in the league.
