Al-Nassr attacker Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his desire to win more trophies for Portugal after receiving the famed Platinum Quinas trophy.

Ronaldo, 39, is considered as the greatest men's player in Portugal's history owing to his record-breaking performances for over 21 years. He helped his national side lift their first-ever UEFA Euro trophy in 2016.

After being handed the Portuguese Football Federation's highest individual honour, the former Manchester United man took to Instagram to share his excitement. The five-time Ballon d'Or award winner wrote:

"It is an honor to receive this award for my national team career. There is still a lot to conquer! Thank you, @portugal!"

Portuguese Football Federation president Fernando Gomes provided his thoughts on the Al-Nassr striker receiving the Platinum Quinas trophy. He said (h/t Business Standard):

"The most prestigious trophy is the Platinum Quinas, and if there is an ambassador for Portugal who deserves it, it is undoubtedly Cristiano Ronaldo. He has served the Portuguese national team for over 20 years. If there is someone who has demonstrated love for representing the Portuguese team, it is Cristiano Ronaldo. An outstanding ambassador who feels the jersey and feels Portugal."

Since making his debut in August 2003, the veteran has represented Portugal 216 times. He has found the back of the net 133 times and registered 45 assists for his national team, helping them lift two trophies.

Al-Nassr attacker Cristiano Ronaldo opens up on potentially netting 1000 goals in his career

After being honoured with the Platinum Quinas trophy, Cristiano Ronaldo asserted that he is still hoping to become the first player to score 1000 goals. He remarked (h/t Business Standard):

"I now face my life as living in the moment. I can't think long term anymore. I said publicly that I wanted to reach 1000 goals, but it seems that now everything is easy. Just last month, I reached 900. It's about living in the moment, seeing how my legs will respond in the next few years. If I reach 1000 goals, that's fine, but if I don't, I'm already the player with the most goals in history."

The Real Madrid great has scored a staggering 908 goals (including six Arab Club Champions' Cup strikes) in 1250 total games in his career.

So far this campaign, the right-footed star has recorded 10 goals and three assists in 15 games across all competitions for Al-Nassr. He has also netted three times in four appearances for Portugal this season.
