Football pundit Alan Shearer has predicted a draw in the upcoming Premier League encounter between Chelsea and Arsenal on Sunday, November 10. He believes the Gunners will be under more pressure coming into the game than the Blues.
In his prediction column on Metro, Shearer opined that the match would be won or lost in the midfield. He also sees a red card or two being bradished in the upcoming game. He wrote:
"Chelsea head into their match with Arsenal above the Gunners after 10 Premier League games, and though Arsenal have stumbled recently, it shows how well Enzo Maresca has done at Chelsea, especially when you include the chaotic nature at the club. The midfield is probably where this game with Arsenal will be won and lost. Rice and Partey against Caicedo and Lavia is a good battle because you're talking about good midfielders that enjoy handling the ball.
"The game against Chelsea is a 'must not get beat game' for Arsenal. I don't care who you are, the potential of sitting 10 points behind Liverpool is a lot at this level, and they can't afford too many more defeats. There will be fireworks, and it wouldn't surprise me if we saw a red card or two, but I'll go for a draw on Sunday."
Maresca's side are currently fourth in the Premier League table with 18 points from 10 matches, seven behind leaders Liverpool. Mikel Arteta's side have the same number of points but sit fifth because of their inferior goal difference.
Mikel Arteta confident ahead of Chelsea vs Arsenal
Arsenal suffered a 1-0 loss at Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League this week but Mikel Arteta was proud of his players' performance. He claimed that the Gunners were unlucky at San Siro, adding that a similar performance at Stamford Bridge would get them the win.
He told the media after the match (via Pain in the Arsenal):
"If we play the way we play, we‘ll have a big chance to win against Chelsea. That‘s the way we have to go. I told them that I’m proud of them. I haven‘t seen them play in Europe in the manner that we have today. We are disappointed because we didn’t get what we wanted out of the game, that’s for sure."
While the Gunners suffered a 1-0 loss in the Champions League, the Blues registered a thumping 8-0 win over FC Noah in the Conference League.
