Manchester City fans called out Jeremy Doku and Savinho following the Cityzen's 1-1 Premier League draw against Everton on Thursday, December 26. Despite registering an assist, Doku was poor in attack while Savinho failed to offer any meaningful contribution despite winning City a spot-kick.
Bernardo Silva opened the scoring for City in the 14th minute following a pass from Doku. Iliman Ndiaye equalized for Everton in the 36th minute. In the 51st minute, Vitaliy Mykolenko fouled Savinho in the box, and referee Simon Hooper awarded Manchester City a penalty.
However, Erling Haaland missed the spot-kick in the 53rd minute. Despite City's late press and desire to score, the game ended 1-1.
In 75 minutes on the pitch, Doku had a passing accuracy of 81% (17/21). He made two key passes and registered 40 touches. Meanwhile, Savinho featured for 90 minutes and registered 89% passing accuracy (32/36). He registered three shots on target and won eight out of 15 ground duels contested (via Sofascore).
In the aftermath, fans took to X to express their disappointment with Doku and Savinho's performance, with one tweeting:
"Both Doku and Savinho are not Manchester City level players, they are not efficient. Manchester City does not have wingers, the problem is much bigger.”
"Savinho, Doku and Lewis wouldn’t have got close to a Pep City side of old. Bang average,” another added.
"Savinho and doku is as bad as anthony. I cant see why pep is playing them every week,” a fan opined.
"When is he coming back man, watching Doku and Savinho makes me want to punch through a wall," another fan vented.
"Savinho and Doku genuinely wouldn’t look out of place at Chivas,” another chimed in.
"Savinho and Doku on both wings are so awful to watch,” wrote another.
How did Manchester City's striker Erling Haaland perform against Everton?
The Norwegian is one of the players that could be held accountable as City dropped points. Haaland missed a spot-kick that might have secured all three points for City in the 53rd minute.
In 90 minutes on the pitch, Haaland had a passing accuracy of 77% (10/13). He registered only one shot on target and made only 22 touches.
Despite his failure to find the back of the net against Everton, Haaland has scored 13 goals and registered one assist in 18 league games this term. Meanwhile, City are placed seventh in the league table, having registered 28 points from 18 games.
