"They have Messi the GOAT" – Ex-Barcelona superstar emphatically claims Lionel Messi and Inter Miami can win Premier League

Ex-Barcelona and Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has asserted that Lionel Messi-led Inter Miami could win the Premier League.

During an interaction with Stake.com, Aguero was queried if Inter Miami are good enough to edge ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal in the Premier League. He replied (h/t GOAL):

"I think they would win the league. They have Messi, the GOAT, and with him, even winning the Premier League is possible."

Messi, 36, has helped the Herons emerge as a title-contending team since arriving on a free transfer last July. He helped them lift their first trophy in the Leagues Cup and has guided his team to the top of the Major League Soccer (MLS) table in the ongoing campaign.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner will next be in action for Argentina this week. He is likely to start his team's Copa America Group A opening match against Canada in Atlanta this Thursday (June 20).

Lionel Messi responds to Kylian Mbappe's latest remarks about Euros and World Cup

Earlier this June, France and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe claimed that the UEFA European Championship is tougher to compete in than the FIFA World Cup.

When asked to share his two cents on his former Paris Saint-Germain teammate's recent comments, Lionel Messi responded to ESPN Argentina's Martin Arevalo (h/t Bolavip):

"Mbappe said that the Euros are more difficult than the World Cup? He also said that the South American teams didn't have the same high competition as the Europeans. Everyone values what they play."

The former Newell's Old Boys youth player concluded:

"The Euros are very important, but he leaves out Argentina: three-time world champion, Brazil: five-time world champion and Uruguay: two-time world champion. There are many world champions left out to say that the Euros are the most difficult, right? In the World Cup, the best teams are there, all the world champions are there. That's why everyone wants to be world champion."

Messi, who has won eight Ballon d'Or awards so far, is hoping to guide Argentina to their second successive Copa America triumph. He has been in stellar form for Inter Miami this season, recording 14 goals and 11 assists in 15 games across all competitions so far.

Mbappe, on the other hand, is reportedly ruled out of France's second Group D tie against Netherlands at the UEFA Euro 2024 on Friday. He suffered a broken nose in his team's 1-0 group-stage win over Austria.
