Harry Maguire highlights main difference between Rubem Amorim and Erik ten Hag

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has highlighted the difference between current manager Ruben Amorim and former manager Erik ten Hag. Amorim took charge of the Red Devils following a dismal run of form under his predecessor Ten Hag but has so far been unable to steady the ship.

The newly appointed Portuguese manager joined Manchester United following his successful stints at Braga and Sporting CP. However, he has endured a tough start to life at Old Trafford having lost five of his first 10 games in charge.

After 18 gameweeks, the Red Devils find themselves 14th in the table with just 22 points. They are closer to the relegation zone than the Champions League places which shows that Amorim has a monumental task on his hands.

Former Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire has backed Amorim to overcome the struggles and bring the club back to where they belong. He insisted that the Portuguese manager's philosophy is completely opposite to that of his predecessor ten Hag, which is making his job even tougher. Maguire told Sky Sports:

"The thing is with the managers and the styles, it is not like they have come in and they have similar styles. They are the total opposite in terms of what they want and what they demand. So the transition period is going to be tough."

The England international added:

"We all have great belief in the manager and all his coaching staff. I am sure things are going to turn around. He knows exactly what he needs to do to get this club back. He has come in and done everything he needs to do. He is really demanding."

Maguire concluded:

"He is a winner, so I am sure he will be because he hates losing games. It is frustrating. We want to win football matches and make our fans happy because so far this season it has not been good enough."

Manchester United have some tough games on their hands as they take on Newcastle United, Liverpool and Arsenal in three successive games.

Manchester United set to face competition from PL rivals for Andre Onana backup: Reports

Manchester United are reportedly set to face competition from Wolverhampton Wanderers for Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson. As reported by journalist Alan Nixon (via Football League World), Wolves are not happy with either Jose Sa or Sam Johnstone.

The Midlands club are reportedly eyeing a move for Sunderland shot-stopper Patterson who has been excellent for the Black Cats. The 24-year-old has seven clean sheets in 19 Championship games this season having conceded just 18 goals.

However, Wolves have to beat Manchester United for Patterson's signature if they have to bring the Englishman to the Molineux. The Red Devils are understood to be keen on bringing Patterson as an upgrade on their second-choice keeper Altay Bayındir.
