Jamie Carragher has urged Arsenal to sign two attacking players to compete for the Premier League title. He believes that the Gunners need options up front following the injury to attacker Bukayo Saka.
In his 2025 predictions on The Telegraph, Carragher said that Arsenal rely too much on Saka, so they need to bring in reinforcements. He believes that they need to sign players who can come in and start right away. Carragher wrote:
"Where Slot has five attackers to choose from (when everyone is fit) – and many of them are of a different profile – Arteta has been too reliant on the same players, none more so than Bukayo Saka. Every side would miss a player of his class, but the reaction to Saka’s hamstring injury shows he has carried too much responsibility.
"Arteta needs at least two more top attacking players. I am not talking about back-ups in the event of injury, but starters who will keep the opposition manager guessing as to what the starting XI will be."
He added:
"Arsenal’s biggest problem right now is their injuries. They managed to avoid too much disruption in the last two years, but their squad has been stretched this time.
"Mikel Arteta will find the answers to ensure the team improves in the second half of the season, and they have built valuable experience of a run-in. If they can get to March still close, they will believe."
The Gunners have been linked with Matheus Cunha and Alexander Isak as Mikel Arteta continues to push for the Premier League title.
Liverpool need to avoid Arsenal's issues to win Premier League, says Jamie Carragher
Jamie Carragher has once again said that Arsenal are the biggest threat to Liveprool's Premier League title hopes this season. He believes that the Gunners will be up there with the Reds, but injury issues could be the Reds' biggest concern.
The Reds legend added that his former side need to avoid injuries, which would help them get their hands on the title for the second time in six years:
"Arsenal’s biggest problem right now is their injuries. They managed to avoid too much disruption in the last two years but their squad has been stretched this time. Mikel Arteta will find the answers to ensure the team improves in the second half of the season, and they have built valuable experience of a run-in.
"If they can get to March still close, they will believe. But I am speaking with my head and heart when saying Liverpool will pip them to first place. Arne Slot’s attacking options are the strongest in the Premier League. My only worry for Liverpool is if they pick up injuries to their big players. If they can avoid them, they will be difficult to catch."
Liverpool are nine points clear of third-placed Arsenal in the league table. Nottingham Forest are a surprise second with 37 points, having played a game more than the two title challengers.
