Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has named Roberto Firmino the best he has played with at the club ahead of Mohamed Salah. The 23-year-old has played with some extraordinary players during his time at Anfield but has named Firmino the best player to have shared the pitch with.

Having come through Liverpool's esteemed youth ranks, Jones has been no stranger to top-class footballers as teammates. He has had teammates like Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, to name a few.

On being named to ask the best player he has played with for the Reds, Jones, however, named Roberto Firmino. While highlighting Salah for his exceptional attacking numbers, he admitted that he was amazed by Firmino every single day.

Jones insisted that the Brazilian forward was a player who elevated everyone else's games around him. The Liverpool midfielder told Sky Sports:

“It’s hard, I’ve played with a lot of lads, but in terms of goals, assists, moments in big games, he’s one of the best in the world since he’s come to our club in terms of goals and assists."

Jones added:

“This is where it gets tricky. The best player in my opinion that I think I have played with where I was like ‘wow’ and I was amazed by every single day was Firmino."

The England under-21 international concluded:

"Firmino, if you understand the game and you’re in love with the game and you take the goals and assists away. If you want to see someone who understands the game and brings everyone into play, he’s the best."

Firmino played an integral role in everything Liverpool achieved under Jurgen Klopp with his unique style of play. Along with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, he formed one of the most dangerous attacking trios in the modern era.

The Brazil international spent eight years at Anfield during which he won eight trophies. The Al-Ahli star made 362 appearances for the Merseyside giants, scoring 111 goals and providing 75 assists.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot points out what the Reds need to do to win the Premier League title

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has stressed the importance of the away games against the big clubs. He insisted that if the Reds have to win the title, they must look to beat the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and other top clubs away.

Slot has enjoyed a solid start to life at Anfield, winning 11 of his first 12 games in charge across competitions since taking charge in the summer. Addressing the media ahead of the Merseysiders' trip to Arsenal, the Dutchman said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano on X:

“To win this league, you need to win the difficult away games. We’re talking about Newcastle, Chelsea, City, Man United and Arsenal”.

Liverpool will be up against Mikel Arteta's Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, October 27. The Merseyside outfit currently tops the table after eight games, leading Manchester City and Arsenal by one and four points, respectively.
