Gary Neville was left awestruck by Mohamed Salah's sensational assist for Cody Gakpo in Liverpool's clash with Manchester City on Sunday (December 1). The Egyptian put in a stellar performance, and his ball to Gakpo earned huge plaudits in a 2-0 win.

Gakpo opened the scoring for the Reds in the 12th minute in a first-half onslaught from the hosts. Salah found the Dutch attacker at the back post with an eye-of-the-needle low-driven cross.

Neville waxed lyrical while commentating on the game with Sky Sports. He said:

"This is just world-class. That is unbelievable from Mo Salah. He looks up, he looks up, (Manuel) Akanji is nowhere near, he doesn’t try to block it off, (Stefan) Ortega can’t get there."

Neville added:

"Kyle Walker at the back post doesn’t even know Gakpo is there but don’t take anything away from the fact that is vision, brilliance and precision from Salah to spot that pass."

There has been much talk about Salah regarding his future at Anfield after his recent comments hinting at a departure next summer. The 32-year-old has continued to do his talking on the pitch with impressive performances.

Salah was excellent against Manchester City and merited his goal from the spot in the 78th minute at Anfield. He is helping the Merseysiders surge towards the title and they've moved nine points clear.

Roy Keane was also impressed with Salah's assist for Gakpo's goal. The ex-Manchester United captain pointed out that it was one of many Liverpool first-half opportunities (via Sky Sports):

"It’s a world-class ball from Salah for the goal. Liverpool have had other opportunities. I think Ortega gets a touch to the (Virgil) van Dijk header so it’s a world-class save. For his second chance, six yards out, Van Dijk has to do better. That was a huge opportunity."

The Reds should have been further ahead during a rampant first-half display at Anfield. Salah was at the forefront of his team's attacking brilliance but didn't manage to get on the scoresheet until his penalty.
