“This is why people don’t like England” - Fans furious with English media for blaming Thomas Tuchel over latest player withdrawals

England manager Thomas Tuchel is under a lot of flak despite not having started work.
England manager Thomas Tuchel is under a lot of flak despite not having started work.

Supporters of England have lambasted sections of the media for suggesting that new manager Thomas Tuchel had a role in eight players withdrawing from the squad in the November international break. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Declan Rice, Jack Grealish, Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden have all pulled out of the squad due to injury.

The fans have called the reasoning behind this ridiculous as Tuchel is yet to start in his new position and Lee Carswell is still the interim boss for England.

The Sun's Charlie Wyett and The Mirror's John Cross were seen speaking to Sky Sports News and criticizing the FA. The two distinguished journalists criticized the FA for allowing Tuchel to start in January and not immediately.

As a result, scores of England supporters lashed out at the media for even suggesting that it was Tuchel's fault that these players withdrew from the squad. The English media, known to be vacillating between its support and criticism of the sportspersons it claims to represent, has often caught flak for its double-edged treatment of sensitive matters.

One fan wrote on X:

"Tuchel has become the first manager in history to be blamed for player’s behaviour without having started his role."

Another wrote:

"Blaming Tuchel how? Man hasn’t even started. This is why people don’t like England."

An X user called @utdlenny went as far as to call English football pundits the worst, writing:

"English pundits are the worst aren't they (sic)"

Another user wrote:

"Tuchel, are you salty that he is German ?"

One fan commented:

"Blaming tuchel instead of blaming UEFA for the unnecessary friendly cup. England will never beat the allegation"

Another wrote:

"The English media at its finest, imagine blaming a manager for players pulling out when the manager hasn't even started the role yet."

Thomas Tuchel will take on as England's coach from January 2025

Thomas Tuchel was appointed by the English FA to replace the incumbent Gareth Southgate in October earlier this year. However, the German has asked to start his tenure in January 2025, and not immediately, as was expected of him. England will play in the November international break under interim manager Lee Carsley.

In this upcoming break, England will face Greece and Ireland in the UEFA Nations League. These are the last two matches that Carsley will have to manage the Three Lions before Tuchel arrives to take charge from January 1.
