Former Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has congratulated Thomas Tuchel on his appointment as England's new manager. She has backed the Three Lions to win some silverware during the German boss' tenure.

Thomas Tuchel was unveiled as the Three Lions' new manager on Wednesday (16 October). The 51-year-old is the third in line of foreign managers for England after Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.

Tuchel last managed Bayern Munich before his departure at the end of last season. Meanwhile, England parted ways with Gareth Southgate after failing to win the 2024 European Championships, losing in the final against Spain.

Tuchel enjoyed a successful but short stint at Chelsea, winning the Champions League in 2021 just six months after being hired. At the time, the Blues were owned by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.

Tuchel was in charge of the west Londoners until 2022. That summer, Abramovich was forced to cede ownership due to the Russia-Ukraine war and Todd Boehly acquired the club. After falling out with his new bosses, Tuchel was sacked.

Former Chelsea director Granovskaia, Abramovich's right hand and a former boss of Tuchel, has taken to social media to congratulate the new England manager. She posted a picture with Tuchel and the Champions League trophy on Instagram with a caption that read:

"Thomas knows trophies. Congratulations TT and (England flag). World Cup 2026 just got more exciting!"

Thomas Tuchel will take charge of the Three Lions at the start of the new year. Until then, Lee Carsley will remain interim boss.

"I am sorry that I have a German passport" - Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel responds to criticism after appointment as England manager

Thomas Tuchel has issued a response after England received backlash for hiring a foreign manager to replace Southgate. The former Chelsea boss is intent on changing the critics' minds and bringing glory to the country.

Many English fans and pundits, including Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher, have questioned the FA's decision to cease their backing of an English manager and opt for Tuchel instead.

Speaking at a press conference after his unveiling as new England boss, Tuchel replied to his critics and said (via GOAL):

"I am sorry I have a German passport. Maybe these supporters felt my passion for the Premier League and the country, how I love to live here and work here. Hopefully, I can convince them and show them how I am proud to be the England manager. I am proud."
