Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has emerged on the radar for Serie A giants Inter Milan. According to Catalan outlet Nacional, the Nerazzurri are looking to sign the Egyptian star from the following season.
The 32-year-old will be out of contract in the summer, with the Reds also keen on tying him down. They have already made an offer but the two sides are yet to reach an agreement.
Salah has emerged as a talisman for Liverpool this season. With 16 goals and 11 assists in just 17 league games, he has been a driving force in attack as Arne Slot's side find themselves on top of the table.
Inter Milan are establishing their dominance on the domestic stage but are keen to extend it to the continental level, according to the report. The side lifted the Scudetto last season with relative ease, finishing with a 19-point lead over second-placed Milan. This year they are in the race again, finding themselves a point off leaders Atalanta with a game in hand.
In 2023-24, they exited the Champions League in the Round of 16 after losing in the final to Manchester City the previous campaign. Currently, they are sixth in the table and look comfortable to secure direct qualification.
For Liverpool, ensuring Salah stays beyond this season will be a priority. They also have the impending renewals of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk on their minds and it remains to be seen how many of the three will remain at Anfield.
Jamie Carragher predicts Mohamed Salah to become second African to win Ballon d'Or
Pundit Jamie Carragher believes that Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah could win the Ballon d'Or next year. The ex-Reds defender suggested that the Egyptian's brilliant performances for the side could see him emulate George Weah in winning the Ballon d'Or.
"Salah's goal and assist tally is consistently amazing and there is no bigger admirer of his talent than me, regardless of what his fan club on social media might say," Carragher said in his latest Telegraph column (via Mirror).
"Salah has stated in the past that he wants to become the second African to win the Ballon d'Or after George Weah did so in 1995. I think he has a great chance."
The 32-year-old has been in scintillating form as Arne Slot's side find themselves on top of both the Premier League and Champions League tables. He has bagged 19 goals and 15 assists in just 25 games this season.
Liverpool will be hoping to ensure that his stay at Anfield extends beyond the 2024-25 season as he is currently set to become a free agent in the upcoming summer.
