Real Sociedad midfielder Luka Sucic has opened up about rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United. The Croatian youngster has caught attention since moving to Spain and is reportedly appreciated by the Red Devils, who are looking to add reinforcements.
Sucic held an interview with Sportske Novosti about his feelings towards the reported interest from Manchester United, expressing his pride. The 22-year-old revealed that he had not heard directly from the English side but was also not aware if they had reached out to his club. He said:
“They told me about such a possibility that appeared in public. Later I read about it myself. No one called me from England. I am under contract to Real Sociedad, where I am doing well, nice, where I have fit in perfectly. Have the clubs talked? I don’t know, and the topic doesn’t bother me.
"There have been headlines like that before, and there will be again. United is a global giant, a respected giant in the world of football. Of course I like having my name associated with the Red Devils, but I say that it won’t knock me out of my shoes. I’m firmly on the ground.”
Sucic cost Real Sociedad a reported €10 million when they signed him from RB Salzburg in the summer. The youngster has impressed in his first half-season at the Basque club, appearing 18 times across all competitions, with a goal and an assist to his name.
Manchester United are keen to move on from their ageing midfield, which has the likes of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, both over 30 years old. A player like Sucic suits the Red Devils.
Manchester United forward tipped for winter exit after horror display against Newcastle
Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee has been tipped for a transfer away from the club in the January transfer window. TEAMTalk reports that the 23-year-old Netherlands international is considering a return to former club Bologna, even if on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Zirkzee has struggled to make an impact since joining Manchester United in the summer and was substituted in the first half of the game against Newcastle United, which his side lost 2-0. Having started the game, he was taken off after just 33 minutes and replaced by Kobbie Mainoo. He immediately ran down the tunnel as fans cheered his exit. He re-emerged shortly after and took his place among the substitutes until the end of the game.
Serie A giants Juventus and AC Milan have both been linked with Zirkzee in recent months, and the striker appears to be prepared to leave Old Trafford. He may be allowed to leave on loan in January, having only joined the Red Devils in the summer.
