Jamaica legend Usain Bolt has opened up on Manchester United's title hope following the 2-2 draw against Liverpool on Sunday, January 5, at Anfield. The Red Devils arrived at the home of their bitter rivals in a wretched run of form, losing four games on the trot in the buildup to the game.

The Merseyside club, meanwhile, were on a run of four consecutive wins and were expected to secure an easy win. However, Manchester United managed to hold their own against Arne Slot's well-oiled Liverpool team.

The Red Devils displayed grit and resilience that had been missing in many of their games this season. Lisando Martinez opened the scoring with a thunderous striker early in the second half. Unfortunately, Liverpool soon secured a 2-1 lead thanks to a Cody Gakpo goal and a Mohamed Salah penalty.

However, Amorim's men managed to get back into the game through Amad Diallo in the 80th minute.

Bolt, who is a United fan, was quick to express satisfaction at the team's performance. Sharing a message on social media, the Jamaican sprinter said that the Red Devils can win the league if they show such spirit every game.

“If we can play with this fight [in] every game, Manchester United will win the league,” said Bolt.

Manchester United next face Arsenal in the FA Cup on Sunday, January 12.

Following the draw, Ruben Amorim has stated that his team's performance wasn't up to the standards. Manchester United could have secured a win late in the game, when Joshua Zirkzee teed up Harry Maguire in the box. Unfortunately, the English defender's shot missed the target.

Speaking after the game, as cited by the club's website, Amorim added that his team must maintain the standard in every game.

“I want to see my team play so much better, but I think the most important thing to address today is the mentality. And that [mentality] is the key for everything," said Amorim.

He continued:

"So today we were a different team, not because of the system, not because of the technical aspect of the game, the tactical aspect of the game, we faced the competition in the way that we’re supposed to face every day – training and match. It doesn’t matter the place, the opponent, we need to face every day like that.”

The Red Devils are 13th in the Premier League table after 20 games.
