Cristiano Ronaldo celebrated exuberantly after breaking the Saudi Pro League goal-scoring record during Al-Nassr's 4-2 win over Al-Ittihad on Monday, May 27. The legendary Portuguese forward bagged a brace to help Al-Nassr win their 26th league game of the season.

Ronaldo has been lethal in front of goal throughout this season, racking an impressive 35 goals and breaking the league's all-time goal-scoring record. The record was previously held by Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah, who scored 34 goals in 2019-19.

The forward wildly celebrated his record-breaking goal, as captured in the video below:

The Los Blancos legend broke the record with a powerful header to double his side’s lead and bag his brace in the 69th minute. Ronaldo had earlier opened the scoring in first-half added time after being set up by Mohamed Al Fatil.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been phenomenal for the Saudi side since his arrival. Besides bringing international attention to the league, he has also bagged 58 goals in 63 appearances for Al-Nassr.

The Portuguese captain will head to the European Championships in Germany soon and will hope he can lead his country to the title.

Bruno Fernandes nears Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo's record at Manchester United

Ronaldo has now left Europe and plies his trade in Saudi Arabia, breaking records in the Middle East. Meanwhile, his Portuguese teammate Bruno Fernandes is getting closer to the superstar's current records at Manchester United. The Portuguese playmaker was named the Player of The Year at Old Trafford for the third time.

The only players who have more than three such awards at Manchester United are Cristiano Ronaldo and David de Gea with four each. With Fernandes likely to remain at Old Trafford next year, he has the chance to match Ronaldo and De Gea's tally.

Fernandes' performances towards the end of the season have garnered praise from fans and pundits alike, with Roy Keane telling ITV Sport (via Daily Mail):

"I’ve been critical of Bruno over the years but I’m happy to be proved wrong. His leadership today was outstanding. We’ve always mentioned how brilliant he’s been as a player but you know, I’m just pleased for the fans. It’s been a frustrating few months."

Fernandes provided 13 assists across competitions this season, while finding the back of the net of 15 occasions. He will look to continue this form next season and potentially match Cristiano Ronaldo's record.
