Victor Lindelof has recalled his time as the teammate of new Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim. He revealed that there was no relationship between them outside the pitch and is looking forward to meeting him again.

Speaking to the media via SportWitness, Lindelof said that he was young and thus never managed to go out with senior players like Amorim while he was at Benfica. However, the Manchester United star admitted that he has heard good things about the manager and said:

"I was young at the time, and we didn't have a relationship outside of football, but I've heard great things about him as a coach. It will be great to meet him again. It's been many years since we played together."

When quizzed about his contract status, which expires next summer, the defender added:

"This is not something I think about. My focus has been to come back from the injury and play football again. But of course, there will be writings now what will happen when I am in my last year. My goal is always to help the team. Now I have come back, made 90 minutes at United which has been very nice. It's a different situation for me now."

Victor Lindelof played three matches with Ruben Amorim during their time together at Benfica. They won both matches when the Sweden international played as a defensive midfielder but lost the one match he played as a center-back.

Rubem Amorim looking forward to Manchester United career

Rubem Amorim has said that Manchester United's plan has appealed to him and he is honored to be the first choice for this project. He added that it was a great responsibility on his shoulders and said (via manutd.com):

"When Man United talked to me, Omar, they told me about their plans. It's a real honour because I was the first choice to start that path. So it's a great responsibility. But you feel honoured and excited to be part of that.
"And we know that if the team plays well and wins games, everything looks so much better and the people really start to believe in the new stadium and new ideas. So, we know that we are the engine of the football. Man United is the engine of the Premier League in my opinion."

Ruben Amorim's first match in charge of Manchester United will be against Ipswich Town on November 24. The manager was signed earlier this month after they paid €11 million to get him and his backroom staff from Sporting CP.
