Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly angered his neighbors in Portugal, due to the construction of his dream retirement home.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is enjoying life in the Middle East since joining Al-Nassr from Manchester United in January. Despite still going strong for both club and country, Ronaldo is 38 years of age and is in the twilight years of his career.
With half an eye on retirement, Cristiano Ronaldo is in the midst of building his dream home in Portugal for when he decides to retire, MARCA report. The mansion is reported to be worth $21 million and is said to be the most expensive of its kind in Portugal.
However, the mansion won't be completed until 2024, much to the chagrin of those who live nearby. His neighbors are reportedly furious due to the tolls the construction has brought to their streets and property.
One neighbor was quoted as saying (via GBN Britain's News Channel):
"The house has at least one more year of construction to go. We are fed up!"
Another neighbor said:
"We've had three years of construction. The house is so big that it looks like a hospital. My street has been cut off for months, my garden is full of dust. All because of the 'pyramid' of Pharaoh Ronaldo."
The mansion is reported to have four floors and four luxury suits, covered in 'huge glass walls'. It will also have various amenities like a cinema room, two garages, a tennis court, a gym, and a service area.
"It’s a question of just enjoying the moment" - When Cristiano Ronaldo admitted he was unsure of his future
While speaking to the media last month, Cristiano Ronaldo admitted he was unsure of how long he could continue playing for. However, he insisted he physically felt good due to how he's treated his body over the years.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been in stellar form this season for Al-Nassr, netting 16 goals and registering nine assists in 17 appearances across all competitions. He even overtook Erling Haaland to become the top-scorer of 2023 with 45 goals for club and country.
The Portugal icon said (via GBN Britain's News Channel):
"Things have happened in my life, both on a personal and professional level, that make me think more in the short term nowadays. People say I’m going to play on until I’m 40 or 41 years old. I don’t set these targets.
"It’s a question of just enjoying the moment, which is a good moment. I feel good. My body is responding to how I’ve treated it over the years."
He added:
"I’m happy both at my club and in the Seleçao [Portugal national team]. I’ve scored plenty of goals, I feel in good shape physically. It’s a question of enjoying the moment.”
Cristiano Ronaldo is currently contracted to Al-Nassr until the summer of 2025. He is also expected to feature in the 2024 UEFA Euros next year, representing the Portugal national team.
