Casemiro has spoken highly of new Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese manager is scheduled to arrive at Old Trafford on Monday, November 11, and take charge of the team, subject to work permit clearances.

The Red Devils opted to part ways with Erik ten Hag at the end of October and wasted little time to appoint Amorim as his replacement. However, Ruud van Nistelrooy was handed the charge as interim manager to facilitate the Portuguese's smooth exit from Sporting.

The former striker had an impressive reign at the hot seat at Manchester United, registering three wins and one draw in his four games. Casemiro was an omnipresent figure under Nistelrooy, even scoring a brace against Leicester City in the EFL Cup.

Speaking recently, as cited by The Mirror, the Brazilian backed Amorim to guide the Red Devils to glory.

“We’ve not spoken, but everyone speaks so well of him. Above all, he is very true, very loyal. We cannot ignore how he has changed Sporting. We know that Sporting won many titles, he changed the club with titles, with trophies. He has already proved that he is a coach who has won a lot," said Casemiro.

He continued:

“I think there’s going to be a good template, that everyone wants to grow, everyone wants to learn. I think that’s the way to first help us grow to be at the top of the table.”

Casemiro's future at Manchester United remains under doubt at the moment, with his contract set to expire in 2026.

Who are Manchester United's top five goalscorers this season?

Alejandro Garnacho
Alejandro Garnacho

Alejandro Garnacho has scored the most goals for Manchester United this season, finding the back of the net seven times in 18 games. The 20-year-old has also set up four more.

Last season, Garnacho registered 10 goals and five assists from 50 games across competitions. He looks on course to break that record this year.

Marcus Rashford is the second on the goalscoring charts for the Red Devils this campaign. The 27-year-old has scored four goals and set up three more from 18 games across competitions.

The Englishman has been off-colour since the start of the 2023/24 campaign. Last season, Rashford registered just eight goals and six assists from 43 games. The Englishman will be hoping that Ruben Amorim's arrival can help him rediscover his goalscoring boots.

Bruno Fernandes (4), Christian Eriksen (4), and Casemiro (3) complete the top five goalscorers list for Manchester United this season.
