Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has highlighted the team's mid-season Dubai trip as their turning point of the season. This comes ahead of their final game of the season at home against Everton on Sunday, May 19.
The Gunners conducted a January trip to Dubai where the players' families were also allowed. Ahead of the trip, Mikel Arteta's side crashed out of the FA Cup and were five points behind league leaders Liverpool.
However, since returning from the Middle East, Mikel Arteta's side have shown a rich vein of form. Odegaard has credited the trip for the recent better form, saying (via Mirror):
"This season, we obviously have to speak about the Dubai trip again. Everyone is speaking about it, like what happened there, and all that. But we were just struggling a bit before that and we needed that break and we went there."
Odegaard added:
"People brought their families and we came together and we got closer to each other. We had some time away and time off and it helped. We came back stronger and more together as a group as well."
Odegaard further highlighted how Arsenal are a close family with great bonding and claimed that the players love fighting for each other.
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has been enjoying a phenomenal personal season
Martin Odegaard has once again been Arsenal's creator-in-chief this season. He has scored 11 goals and has provided nine assists in 47 appearances across competitions this season.
Apart from the goals and assists, Odegaard has also been a pivotal player in the team's build-up play. His touch of magic has often created openings for the Gunners.
Arteta's side, however, could still miss out on the league title despite their rich vein of form. They are second in the table with 86 points from 37 matches, two points behind Manchester City. Even if the Gunners beat Everton in their final game of the campaign, they will need City to slip up against West Ham United.
