Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland reacted after scoring in the Sky Blues' 2-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday, December 29. The Norwegian talisman scored the second goal in the game.
Manchester City's 2-0 win over Leicester City ended their five-match winless streak across competitions. Savinho scored the opening goal (21'), while Erling Haaland doubled the lead with a header in the second half (74'). The Sky Blues currently stand fifth in the Premier League table with 31 points off 19 games.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Erling Haaland shared his thoughts after Manchester City returned to winning ways during their difficult run this season. He said (via The Mirror):
"I think it's important to look ahead and s*** happens. That's something. Things happen and we have to keep going, we have to stay positive and focus on the right things."
In 26 outings for Man City across competitions this season, Haaland has found the back of the net 19 times alongside delivering one assist. The Norway international's goal came after he failed to score in three consecutive Premier League games. His last league goal came during the club's 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.
"It's been a difficult time" - Erling Haaland responds on whether Manchester City's 2-0 win over Leicester City can boost their confidence
In his aforementioned interview with Sky Sports, Erling Haaland addressed Manchester City's recent poor form. He said (via The Mirror):
"Yeah of course. And it's been a difficult time as I said. Now it's New Year so don't think too much about football because it's actually five or six days until the next game, maybe seven. I think it's the longest time in a pretty long period and now we can rest a little bit and go again on the fourth."
Haaland also spoke about his feelings after scoring an important goal and added:
"Yeah, it's always a relief to score and that was an important goal to go 2-0 up. Every game is difficult and it's about getting the game towards your, I don't know the word in English only in Norwegian so you can translate, favor [meaning favour]. Yeah, that's what you need to do."
Shortly after the Sky Blues' much-needed win, Haaland was spotted jokingly pushing coach Pep Guardiola towards their fans who accompanied them during the away match. The fans chanted Guardiola's name while Haaland celebrated the moment with the coach.
Manchester City will next face West Ham United on January 4 in the Premier League following the New Year break.
