Football pundit Michael Owen has called out Manchester United's summer signing Noussair Mazraoui. He labeled him 'stupid' after he conceded a penalty during their 3-0 loss against Bournemouth in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford (December 22).

Dean Huijsen gave Bournemouth the lead in the 29th minute with an excellent header. The Red Devils attempted to spring a comeback following the break but were dealt a massive blow soon after.

Mazroaui conceded a poor spot-kick after tripping Justin Kluivert inside his own box. The latter made no mistake from the spot to make it 2-0 in the 61st minute before Antoine Semenyo netted two minutes later to seal the win for Bournemouth.

Owen was asked about Mazroaui being 'rash', to which he replied (via METRO):

"You’re being kind. A little rash? A little stupid more like. What on earth are you doing? Two players are waiting for him, he’s not going to score from there and he dives in. Just stay on your feet and usher him away. It’s just a poor, poor decision."

He added:

"The sad thing from Manchester United these days is they go 1-0 down and you never really think they’re going to come back. They’re not a good team. Ruben Amorim needs to be watching that game and ensure these players that are not performing do not put on the shirt again. He needs to be that brutal and that ruthless."

Despite his error, Mazroaui has been one of Manchester United's best players this season since joining from Bayern Munich over the summer. The right-back has provided two assists in 26 appearances across competitions.

As per FotMob, the 27-year-old completed 27 passes from an attempted 32 with an accuracy of 84 percent. He also had some good defensive moments, winning five duels, making three recoveries, and winning all three of his tackles.

When will Manchester United next be back in action?

Manchester United's woes continued as they suffered their second straight defeat across all competitions following their 3-0 loss against Bournemouth. They are currently 13th in the Premier League standings with 22 points from 17 games, nine points away from fourth-placed Nottingham Forest.

Ruben Amorim and Co. will have a shot of returning to winning ways in their next fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux on Thursday, December 26. The Red Devils then host in-form Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Monday, December 30.
