Fans were impressed with Jude Bellingham’s performance in Real Madrid’s LaLiga match against Valencia on Friday, January 3. The English midfielder produced a player-of-the-match performance as Los Blancos secured a last-gasp 2-1 victory at the Mestalla Stadium to move to the summit of the LaLiga table.
The match, initially scheduled for November 2, was postponed and rescheduled to a later date after the flash flood that claimed several lives and destroyed properties in Valencia. Eager to get off to a flying start, Real Madrid started the game by bossing possession.
However, Valencia opened the scoring in the 27th minute through Hugo Duro.
Bellingham had the chance to put Real Madrid level from the penalty spot in the 55th minute, but the midfielder missed his spot-kick, hitting the woodwork. Four minutes later, the England international played a key role behind Kylian Mbappe's goal. But it was chalked off for offside.
Real Madrid's woes were worsened as their talisman Vinicius Jr was sent off in the 79th minute for a petulant push to the back of Valencia keeper Stole Dimitrievski’s head in an off-the-ball incident.
Undeterred by the red card, Los Blancos continued mounting the pressure, and their efforts finally paid off in the 85th minute. Jude Bellingham teed up Luka Modric, who made it 1-1.
Momentum was with Real Madrid in the dying embers of the game, with Bellingham scoring the winner in the fifth minute of injury time.
After the match, Bellingham was deservedly named the man of the match for his heroics. The England international had 75 touches, made two key passes, created one big chance, and had a rating of 9.1 as per Sofascore.
