"Whilst he's on the pitch, you're always going to have that opportunity" – Alan Shearer lauds Liverpool star after performance against Arsenal

Alan Shearer is the Premier League
Alan Shearer is the Premier League's all-time highest goalscorer with 260 goals.

Newcastle United great Alan Shearer has showered praise on Mohamed Salah for his fine performance in Liverpool's recent 2-2 Premier League draw at Arsenal.

Earlier this Sunday (October 27), the Reds came back from behind twice to record a draw at Emirates Stadium. After Bukayo Saka's opener in the ninth minute, Virgil van Dijk levelled things in the 18th minute. However, Mikel Merino put the Gunners ahead in the 43rd minute. Salah rescued a point for the Reds with a great finish in the 81st minute.

After the end of the Premier League match, Shearer lauded Salah for emerging as Liverpool's saviour in the second half of their recent trip to London. He told Premier League Productions (h/t The Boot Room):

"Mohamed Salah didn't touch the ball a lot, he wasn't as involved as he would like or want to be. But whilst he's on the pitch, you're always going to have that opportunity. Why would you take your best goal scorer off?. His movement is just incredible. It was a great ball, and it was crying out to be put into the back of the net."

Salah, who is in the final year of his current contract, touched the ball 46 times and completed 25 of his 30 passes earlier this weekend. He registered three shots and also created one chance at Arsenal's stadium.

So far this campaign, the Egypt international has bagged eight goals and provided seven assists in 13 games in all competitions for Liverpool.

Arne Slot hails Liverpool centre-back after 2-2 league draw at fellow title contenders Arsenal

At a post-match press conference, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot singled out star centre-back Ibrahima Konate for his standout display against Arsenal. He said (h/t Tribal Football):

"The one who stood out today was? That's a question! I think Konate was also very good for us. He doesn't always get the attention he deserves, in my opinion. He's asking to be the Man of the Match all the time, but he's coming closer and closer to achieving that because I think he had a great performance today as well."

Konate completed 54 of his 61 passes, won two of his two tackles, and three of his four total duels in the Premier League encounter at Arsenal.

The former RB Leipzig man has been in excellent form this campaign, scoring two goals and providing one assist in 12 total games for his club.
