Jamie Carragher's reaction to finishing above Cristiano Ronaldo has gone viral

Football fans on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) had a field day with Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher's reaction to finishing above Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2005 Ballon d'Or rankings.

Carragher won the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool back in 2005 and finished 20th in the Ballon d'Or rankings, tied with a young Ronaldo. However, the Wikipedia stats show Carragher's name above Ronaldo's, much to the elation of the former defender.

In a recent CBS Sports Champions League show, presenter Kate Abdo brought that fact up as a snapshot popped up on the screen. Zinedine Zidane finished 18th that year with Gianluigi Buffon finishing 19th in the standings.

Carragher could be seen screaming in the clip:

"Get that on socials now."

Fans on social media reacted to the hilarious clip, with one user writing on X:

"Carragher will never forget that."

Here are some of the best reactions on X after fans realized that Jamie Carragher was tied with Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2005 Ballon d'Or award rankings:

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace for Al-Nassr against Al-Duhail in the AFC Champions League

Cristiano Ronaldo was at his brilliant best in Al-Nassr's recent clash against Al-Duhail in the AFC Champions League. Luis Castro's team won the match at the Al-Awwal Park by a scoreline of 4-3.

Anderson Talisca opened the scoring after being set up with a cheeky backheel by Ronaldo in the 25th minute. Sadio Mane scored the second for the Saudi Pro League club 11 minutes after the restart.

Ronaldo then rolled back the years as he scored a spectacular left-footed long ranger in the 61st minute to give his team a 3-0 lead. The 38-year-old's strike nestled in the top corner of the Al-Duhail net.

Ismail Mohamad (63') and Almoez Ali (67'), however, scored in quick succession for Christophe Galtier's Al-Duhail to reduce the deficit to one goal. Ronaldo then scored his second of the night in the 81st minute.

This time, he unleashed a left-footed volley after being found in space by Sultan Al-Ghannam. While Michael Olunga pulled one back for Al-Duhail just four minutes later, Al-Nassr did enough to secure the win.

Al-Nassr registered their third win in as many matches in the AFC Champions League. Ronaldo, on the other hand, took his goal tally to 14 for the season in 13 matches. He has seven assists to his name as well.
