Barcelona fans were unimpressed with Jules Kounde’s performance in the side's 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad. The two sides faced off at Anoeta Stadium on Sunday, 10 November.
Hansi Flick’s side were handed their second league loss of the campaign. La Blaugrana found the back of the net in the 13th minute, but Robert Lewandowski's goal was ruled offside by the VAR.
Real Sociedad took the lead in the 33rd minute through Sheraldo Becker. Barcelona dominated the game in terms of possession (70%) but failed to penetrate Sociedad’s defense. The home team held on to its slim lead and handed a shocking defeat to the league leaders.
Overall, it was a poor game for Barcelona who failed to register a single shot on target from 11 attempts. However, fans were quick to single out Jules Kounde for his below-par performance. The right-back had the lowest rating among all Barcelona players (6.4 as per Sofascore).
Jules Kounde made no clearances, lost possession 15 times and was dribbled past once. He managed just one interception and won five of 12 combined ground and aerial duels. He was substituted in the 84th minute, with Gavi coming on as his replacement.
The Frenchman’s performance on the night left fans unhappy and shared their reactions on X.
“Kounde was the worst player on the pitch, Becker took him for a walk,” a fan said.
Another fan claimed that the defender played against his team.
“Kounde was playing against us today,” a fan wrote.
“Kounde was horrible,” one fan said.
More fans chimed in to react to Kounde’s performance.
“Nobody played as bad as Kounde,” another fan added.
“Kounde has been absolutely horrendous,” another chimed in.
“Casado better rb than Kounde lol,” one user said.
Jules Kounde has played in all 16 games across competitions for Barcelona this term. He has contributed a goal and four assists.
“We’ll bounce back in the next match” - Pedri reacts to Barcelona’s 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad
Spanish midfielder Pedri has assured fans that the loss to Real Sociedad was a one-off phenomenon. He hinted that there should be no cause for alarm as the side would return to winning ways.
“This is a one-time thing. We’ll bounce back in the next match. There’s no need to worry,” Pedri said (via Barca Universal).
La Blaugrana have now lost twice in the league. Their first league loss of the season was against Osasuna (4-2) on 28 September. Nevertheless, Hansi Flick’s side still maintain their top spot in the standings.
They have 33 points after 13 matches, six points more than rivals Real Madrid who are second but have played one game less.
