Erik ten Hag is under pressure following Manchester United's poor start to the season.

Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has showered praise on current Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag despite his team languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Ten Hag's side, who finished eighth in the league table last season, are currently in 14th place following their worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign. They are on eight points from seven games, recording just two victories and boasting a goal difference of -3.

Speaking recently to BBC Sport, Moyes was asked to offer his honest thoughts on Ten Hag's current situation on the back of Manchester United's recent 0-0 draw at Aston Villa. He said (h/t Metro):

"I think he's doing a brilliant job. I think he's shown brilliant resilience in the situation that he's in and I think he should be credited for how well he's conducted himself."

Moyes, who was sacked as Red Devils manager just 10 months after replacing Sir Alex Ferguson ahead of the 2013-14 season, continued:

"As far as I know, I don't see him ducking any questions or any media interviews that you people [the media] put forward to him. I think you have to give him great credit for that but it's a job that is going to attract immense pressure, people talking, so I have to say that I think he's doing a brilliant job."

Ten Hag, who helped Ajax win three Eredivisie titles, has come under scrutiny due to Manchester United's sub-par results. He has guided his side to just six wins and eight losses in their last 20 league games, while helping them win once in their last 10 continental matches.

Erik ten Hag suggests he has Manchester United top brass' support amid poor form

After Manchester United's recent Premier League draw at Aston Villa, Erik ten Hag was asked whether club co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe still backed him as Red Devils' manager. He replied (h/t Metro):

"We communicate very openly. It's very transparent. We are all on board together, on one page. We know what we are working through is a long-term process. I speak continually with them."

Before the start of the campaign, Manchester United were allegedly in talks with a host of managerial candidates. They were said to have been in touch with Graham Potter, Gareth Southgate, and Kieran McKenna.

Now, according to Manchester Evening News, former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has been lined up as a potential replacement for Ten Hag.
