Manchester United legend Roy Keane has urged the current team to seek consistency following their 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, January 5. The Red Devils arrived at the game on the back of four defeats in all competitions.

The Reds, meanwhile, were on contrasting form, securing four wins on the trot. As such, the Merseyside club were expected to secure an easy win on the night.

However, it was Manchester United who took the lead early in the first half. Bruno Fernandes threaded a through ball to Lisandro Martinez into the box in the 52nd minute and the Argentinean finished with aplomb.

Unfortunately, the Red Devils' lead lasted only seven minutes, with Cody Gakpo bringing Liverpool back into the game. The Reds were then awarded a penalty when the ball hit Matthijs de Ligt's hand in the box.

Mohamed Salah stepped up to give the Merseyside club a 2-1 lead in the 70th minute and it appeared that he had secured all three points. However, Amad Diallo scored from an Alejandro Garnacho ball 10 minutes later to help Ruben Amorim's team secure a point.

Speaking after the game to Sky Sports, Keane praised his former side.

"I take my hat off to Manchester United today... the key is that they've got to back it up. You can't just pick and choose when you want to turn up for a game at United," said Keane.

Despite the draw, Liverpool remain at the top of the Premier League table after 19 games.
