Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr side sends encouraging message after Euro 2022 clash

Cristiano Ronaldo's side Al-Nassr made a tribute post on X after Portugal made it past Slovenia in their Round of 16 clash at Euro 2024. The legendary attacker is playing at a record sixth European championship and was hailed by his Saudi Pro League club as the GOAT (Greatest of all time) in their message.

Ronaldo joined the Saudi Arabian side in December 2022 after his contract with Manchester United was terminated by mutual consent. The Portuguese legend has proven to be a lethal and valuable addition to the Saudi Pro League team, scoring 58 goals and providing 15 assists in 64 games since.

After the match, Al-Nassr posted:

"Whatever happens! You'll be the GOAT forever Vamos Portugal"

Cristiano Ronaldo missed a 105th-minute spot-kick against Slovenia and burst into tears soon after. However, he stepped up to convert Portugal's first penalty in the ensuing shootout and help them win 3-0. Portugal thus qualified for the quarterfinals of Euro 2024, where they will face France.

At 39 years old, Ronaldo is playing in what could be his final Euros for Portugal and the legendary striker will be keen to end his last dance with a trophy. He is his country, and international football's, highest goalscorer, with 130 goals and 47 assists in 211 games.

Cristiano Ronaldo's effect on Al-Nassr before Euro 2024

Cristiano Ronaldo had an eventful season with the Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr before Euro 2024, breaking records as usual. He broke the league's record for most goals in a season after his brace against Al-Ittihad on the final day.

His 69th-minute strike broke the 34-goal record previously held by Abderrazak Hamdallah and underlined a fantastic season for the 39-year-old. Despite his goals, Al-Nassr have only finished second on the table in consecutive seasons since his arrival.

The legendary striker has also failed to win any silverware for the Knights of Najd. Their main rivals, Al-Hilal were unbeaten in the league last season. Al Nassr failed to beat them on all three occasions, drawing one and losing two, most notably in the King's Cup final.

Cristiano Ronaldo's current contract with the club ends in 2025.
